The more we know, the more we get shocked. The president said we didn't receive any money for this. True. But Guess what? WE ARE PAYING TO KEEP THESE MEN HERE.

Amid the outcry of Ghanaians regarding the acceptance and accommodation of the former Guantanamo detainees, it has been revealed that Ghana is jointly responsible for their upkeep as well.

This was brought to the fore by the Public Affairs Counsellor at the US Embassy in Ghana, Daniel Fennel.

Speaking to Kwesi Pratt, host of TV3’s Hot Issues which is yet to be telecasted January 16, he threw more light on the upkeep arrangements between his government and that of Ghana, indicating that it was a shared expense.

“It’s a shared expense…we are contributing some for the monitoring and upkeep of the individuals and the government of Ghana. We are contributing some money towards that and the government of Ghana is making all the arrangements and taking care of them,” he said.

When asked whether the tax payer’s money was being used for this cause, he said “I think so” and also opined it would not be beyond imagination if Ghana is to sponsor something happening within her borders.

He went ahead to commend Ghana saying: “I think it is laudable and we should be proud of Ghana”

This saga just gets better and better by the day….Oh Mother Ghana!
